LOL. That explains why Hispanics in USA never want to talk to me in Spanish. They think that I think they do not speak English, when the reality is that most of them speak English 10 times better than I do.
Ian: I don't really know if that is the reason, really. Cos I see that Hispanics in the USA tend to speak in English even between themselves, when Hispanics/Spanish in the UK keep on speaking Spanish (I used to say I was Romanian, cos the accent is quite similar). So I guess there is something more. I have a t-shirt that reads "Welcome to America, now speak English": this explains two things. The first is the fact that they must be superior in some way, cos they dont have silly political problems on the name of a language. The second is something I don't know but I guess -there must be some kind of hiden fascist rule on the usage of other languages but English (this comes with the support of the new laws banning newspapers in Spanish in the west, or something like that). But you tell me.
